Ayurvedic Thai Bodywork – What it is, & Why GETTING SQUISHED is So GOOD.
WEAVING THIS ANCIENT HEALING FOLK ART & QUANTUM REIKI ACTIVATIONS
It is my HONOR and my JOY to serve as a bodyworker, Reiki Practitioner and Teacher, and Soul Doula – weaving these beloved and potent healing modalities into a blissful experience for each of my clients.
Ayurvedic Bodywork (a.k.a. Ayurvedic Assisted Asana, Yoga Stretch, or Thai “massage”) is an ancient healing folk art that was developed tens of thousands of years ago in the Ayurvedic traditions which allow the receiver a surrendering release that makes way for deeper and deeper physical, mental, and Spiritual ‘openings’.
But don’t let the word Spiritual trip you up. Vedic Bodywork is, in its most basic form is a very physical modality that addresses all of the multidimensional human body systems at once. This is why it can be and often is a Spiritual experience for receivers. The depth in which any one person perceives their experience is entirely up to them and their current capacities to receive and process information within these body systems. Flowing rhythmic compressions using the feet, knees, palms, elbows, forearms and fingers are blended with exotic stretching positions known as asanas (yoga stretch) and disciplined breath control known as pranayama, effectively producing a balanced and harmonious symbiotic communication integrating the body’s vital systems, including mechanical-musculoskeletal, electrical-neural, and chemical-glandular.
Ayurvedic Thai Bodywork as a practice has many benefits that are supported by modern science. It has been found to reduce the severity of headaches, decrease lower back and joint pain, increase flexibility and stamina, calm anxieties, and to energize the body, mind, and spirit. Whereas traditional Western therapeutic massage is a passive modality, Vedic Thai Bodywork is an ACTIVE modality, engaging the body’s wisdom and intelligence to achieve deep, somatic healing.
In other words, this beautiful, gentle, feels-so-good bodywork folk art supports the entire human’s health and wellness. Receivers find themselves restoring into strength, releasing chronic pain, enhancing range of motion, stamina, energy, and endurance, sleeping better, walking straighter. And their muscles feel good, too.
SO WHAT DO I MEAN BY “GET SQUISHED”?
Well, we can keep up the conversation, or you can come on in and find out for yourself!
GET SQUISHED!
Autonomy & Somatic Healing for The Kids
It’s no secret, in the world of being human, the body is where we hold, store, and express ALL of our emotions. Injury and trauma are some of the most obvious culprits of Somatic Emotional Storage, especially in children. And while the youth of the world carry within them a more direct access to Truth and Reiki, full of vibrant, powerful energy that allows them a more rapid bounce back than their elders in many ways – they also sometimes require the TLC and dedicated touch therapies that allow emotional pathways to express from the body.
Establishing Trust during sessions with our younger clients through gentle touch, the Puja, and mindful, Loving explanation are key in bringing a sense of autonomy and strength to the receiver. IT IS CRUCIAL THAT CHILDREN OF ANY AGE FEEL AND KNOW THAT THEY HAVE FULL CONTROL OVER HOW & WHEN THEY ARE TOUCHED AND BY WHOM. Communication is essential.
Ayurvedic Bodywork has been practiced for tens of thousands of years throughout our known histories, not only by professionals and healers, but also within the walls and Sacred spaces of the home. In its most basic form, which is assisted yoga stretch and prayerful touch, it is meant for all bodies and all ages – a loving healing modality that families have used to bring deep medicine to one another for centuries.
Our kids crave the good zhuzh, too!
The Potency of The Puja
Setting Space With Sacred Intention
More often than not, our sessions will open and close in the posture and prayerful channel of The Puja.
Ayurvedic bodywork in its most potent expression calls for the purest intentions of both the giver and receiver, utilizing prayerful intent and impeccable inner awareness. The Puja serves as a unifying bond between the practitioner and the client, allowing the dance and flow of energy between them to establish with trust, autonomy, and intimacy.
Resetting the Puja
We may return to this posture many times during a session, either to reset and allow the body to center once again after changing positions on the mat, or to deepen the meditative experience and call in even more focus, energy, and healing.
I find that these resets and returns to stillness bring deeper and deeper lines of trust and relaxation to both the receiver and the giver – as we are always weaving and calling in the Highest Healing and healthiest pathways for deep restoration and wellness.
The element of Loving Touch in Sacred Form is amplified through the potent hands-on Puja and may very well be the only posture needed to achieve maximum healing.
